Friday March 26th was a day of fun in The Pres. The Easter Bunny visited us and danced in the yard and in classrooms. The parents council provided treats and there were lots of Easter eggs. A big thank you to everybody for such a lovely enjoyable day.

Sixth Class 2021

This is the last term for our sixth class girls. We would like to thank all the teachers they have had since they were in Junior Infants and wish them well in Secondary School next September.

Confirmation Class 2021

Our Sixth Class girls will be celebrating their Confirmation on June 19th. We hope they have a very enjoyable day with their families.

We were delighted to see all the boys and girls from Junior infants to Second Classes back in school on March 1st . On March 15th, we welcomed back 3rd to 6th classes. Everybody has settled in really well. On Tuesday March 16th everybody wore their own version of green, white and gold and looked very festive. There was music and dancing in the yard and we had beautiful weather.

February 2020

School Closure

As the school remains closed in accordance with Level 5 restrictions, distance learning will continue on Aladdin Connect.

The Covid 19 Response Plan February 2021 is on the Information for Parents page. Covid Rules have been sent to all the families as well as the declaration form. We are really looking forward to seeing the Junior and Senior Infants and First and Second classes next week and the rest of the school on March 15th, all going well.

Welcome back to school our Junior and Senior Language Units boys and girls. We are delighted to see you.

January 2021

January School Closure

We hope everybody had a lovely Christmas and New Year with their families. As we are unfortunately unable to open the school on January 6th, as planned, teachers will make work available from Monday 11th on Aladdin Connect.  You can contact the school by e mail during school hours and the phone will be manned from 10 to 12 Monday to Friday. We hope everybody and their families have a safe January.

December 2020

There have been lots of events and activities going on this month. We had a great fund raising and fun event on Christmas Jumper Day on December 11th. €800 was raised for Down Syndrome Ireland, Kilkenny Branch. A big thank you to everybody for their generosity. Thank you also for all your donations for the Christmas hampers. It was a great success.

Sporting Activities: we have had cycling lessons for 5th and 6th classes and Gaelic Football for 3rd class. The Health Promoting Committee organised  laps on the basketball court with an aim of  100 km before Christmas! A lot of classes made posters in support of the Kilkenny Camogie team. Congratulations to them on their fantastic All Ireland win!

Congratulations to Ms Laura Mc Carthy on the birth of her lovely daughter last November. We send her and her family all our best wishes.

Congratulations also to Ms Mairéad Cummins on her new  role as principal of Churchtown Primary School in Kildare. We wish her all the best in the future.

Congratulations to the third class girls who made their First Holy Communion on Saturday December 19th.

We have some amazing art work on display all around the school. There is great variety to be seen in work done by all classes.

First Holy Communion-third class girls and their teachers were very busy preparing for their First Holy Communion.  Everybody had  a lovely day with their families on Saturday 19th. It was a long wait! Thanks to Ms Kelly and Ms Murphy for all their work in preparing the girls for the sacrament.

All the classes were busy preparing their Christmas item to entertain you , as we couldn’t  have our usual Christmas Concerts this year. Their hard work paid off as you can see from The Christmas Cracker!

November 2020

We have been very busy this month. We celebrated World Kindness Day on Friday November 13th.

Friday November 20th is the day we celebrated Presentation Day, which is also International Children’s Day.

November Art and Projects

All around the school from Junior Infants to Sixth classes, there is wonderful art work on display. We had a competition to celebrate the life of Nano Nagle through art and we got some great entries. We had poems for Nano and a letter to her too. Congratulations to the winners , in every class, choosing the winner was a difficult task, as the standard was very high. Some classes even had two winners! Projects on Science, History and Geography are also on display, they are amazing!

We celebrated the life and work of Nano Nagle, the founder of the Presentation order on the week beginning November 16th. Everyone listened to her amazing story on the intercom and all classes took part in the  art competition. We had a Zoom Prayer Service on Friday Morning and Ms Deasy announced the names of all the winners of the competition . Well Done everybody!  Presentation day November 21st was celebrated with a half day on Friday November 20th.

Safe Cycling

Sixth classes have completed their course with Cycle Right training. Fifth class have now just started their 6-week cycling course. They will spend five weeks on the yard learning all about safe cycling. Their last lesson is then on the road, putting into practice all they have learned. We wish them the best of luck and safe cycling in the future.

All the girls are enjoying these lessons and will have made great progress by the end of their six weeks training. it is a great way to exercise in a safe way.

Halloween 2020

On Friday October 23rd we celebrated Halloween! Everybody dressed up and had a great time. There were an amazing amount of characters of all ages and sizes to be seen in the yard and in the classrooms !

September 2020

Everybody has settled well into school and are used to all the new procedures now. In line with HSE Covid regulations, we need to keep contact to a minimum, so unfortunately parents cannot come into school like they used to. You might like to see your lovely Junior Infants in their classrooms and also see the wonderful art work and projects that are all around the school.

All the boys and girls in Room 2 are enjoying their first month in “Big School”.

Your child’s report card is now available on Aladdin. If you have not received the report card for your child on Aladdin Connect, please collect it from the school on Thursday June 18th from 10-12. Children’s books can also be collected during this time.

May 25th/26th Important Reminder : 2nd to 6th classes books etc collections  Monday Rooms 10 -18 and Library, Junior infants, Senior Infants and First Classes Rooms 1-9  Tuesday 9.15-3.00 pm.

Extra Collection Date: books etc can also be collected on Thursday May 28th from 11-2pm

Dear Parents/Guardians

I hope you and your families are doing well. It is difficult to stay positive in these challenging times. I have met many families out and about (within 2km) and I am amazed by the courage and resilience of our wonderful children. The staff and I miss you all very much but we are delighted that everyone is well and keeping safe.

As a school we have invested a lot of money to enable easier communication with parents. We strongly encourage you to download Aladdin Connect so that you can hear all our school news during the closure. From 11th May, teachers will use Aladdin to set and correct work and keep in touch with families. Reports ,booklists etc will all be sent via Aladdin so it is in everyone’s interest to get connected,


The Senior CFSN (Child and Family Support Network) Co-ordinator in Kilkenny would like to let parents know that they are still providing and co-ordinating services for children, young people and families in the area.  Due to the current Covid-19 situation, the ways in which supports are being provided have been altered to best meet the needs of families, while adhering to governmental guidelines.  The CFSN Co-ordinators provide supports for all families, whether or not they have been engaged with Tusla previously, these supports can include access to counselling; family support; supports for young children and teenagers; therapy online or on the phone, or help with food and practical supports.  If you would like to find out more, please contact your local Snr CFSN Co-ordinator:               Nora Roberts                                  087 7943746
