We are so lucky to have such amazing parents in our Parent’s Council every year. They do tremendous work for the school. Míle buiochas.

The school Year 2014-2015 was a busy one. A big thank you to our Parents’ Council for fund raising events and for all the work that goes into Sports Days

September 2014

The first meeting of the year was held on Wed Sept 24th. Mrs Kelly outlined the work of the Council, and the fundraising events taking place during the year.

Bag Pack Nov 8th, Book Fair Nov 28th and 29th, Christmas Raffle in December and Silver Circle in Spring. Infants and First Classes 10 week music programme is funded entirely by the Parents ‘Council. I.T. maintenance also comes from Council funds. It was great to see new people coming to the meeting.

A meeting was held on Oct 14th. Parents were informed of important dates in the school calendar. Next meeting re back pack is on Nov 4th @ 7.30.

Senior Sports Day was a great success. Thanks very much to the Parents’ Council and all parents who helped on the day.


All fund-raising activities were a great success this year. The money raised went towards new curtains for the stage, and a social area for sixth class. Sports days were a great success. Everybody enjoyed the well deserved treats afterwards. A big thank you to Supervalu Loughboy, to the members, and to all the parents and children for their contributions and support during the year. We say goodbye, and thank you to Eric and Mary and we would love  to have some new members joining us next year.

February 2012

A.G.M. took place on Feb. 1st.followed by the regular meeting.  The Officers are continuing on in their positions on the Council. Preparations are being made for the Silver Circle, and it is hoped that the cards will be ready before mid-term. There will be an Easter Competition again this year, more details later. Everybody was happy with the Book Fair and Bag Pack and it is hoped that both events will be held again next year. Issues regarding parking congestion in the morning were discussed. Members were given a copy of the school draft anti-bullying policy. The next meeting will be held on Wed. February 29th at 7.30.

October Meeting

The first meeting of this school year took place on Tuesday October 4th. A number of items were discussed.  Parents are very happy with the Speech and Drama, and Music classes. The children are enjoying them. It was decided that the Khan Book Fair will take place at the end of November. The fundraising Bag Pack event will take place on the weekend of November 10th. to 12th. at Super Valu. All help is greatly appreciated. We bid farewell to Mary Mc Carthy, who has contributed significantly to the school over the years.

May Meeting

The May Meeting took place on the 9th. The main item on the agenda was the upcoming school sports day,taking place on Tuesday, June 7th.  Pupils from 2nd. to 6th. classes will take part in a variety of races. Medals will be awarded to those in 1st ,2nd and 3rd places, after the races. The June meeting will take place on Tues. 21st.  The main item on the agenda for that meeting will be the uniform sale which will take place in the hall during the last week at school on Wednesday 29th at 7pm.

Easter News


The Silver Circle: Draws took place between March 31st and April 1st. €7430 has been raised so far, for the benefit of our school and children. Thank you all very much for your  continued support. The Parents`Council, in conjunction with Mrs. Kelly, have agreed to purchase four flutes for the school, children can use them using a rental scheme.

Easter Hat and Colouring Competation: Thank you to all the children who took part, and to the parents and teachers who were involved. Congratulations to the overall winners. Perhaps it will be an annual event.      As always we welcome new members. On behalf of the Parents’ Council, Happy Easter.


                Junior  Infants Information Evening

We were pleased to co host, with Mrs. Kelly, and the teachers, an evening event for the parents of new Junior Infants in the first term. It was lovely to meet the new parents and we were delighted that some new parents have decided to join the Parents Council.

Bag Pack Fundraising Event

One of our main fund-raising events came up in November – The Bag Pack in Supervalu, Loughboy November 25th to 27th. Thanks to great support last year from parents, teachers and friends, we were able to help equip the school with some wonderful classroom technology. A very big “Thank you” to everyone who supported the fundraisers. This year we raised an impressive 2000 euro, which will be put towards much needed resources for the school.


Our A.G.M. took place on Monday Jan 24th.  New parents were welcomed. Parents were informed about current activities in the school. The next meeting of the Parents’ Council took  place on Tuesday February 8th at 7 o’ clock. The main item on the agenda was  the  Silver Circle. The Silver Circle cards need to be returned by March 4th.

New Members

New members are always welcome. You don’t have to be an expert in education to join. If you have a child at the school and an interest in supporting the school, you qualify. Just give your contact details to Frances in the office.

Everybody was very pleased with the way the Silver Circle is going. The draws started on Thursday 31st March at 2.40. Best of luck to all and  congratulations to all the winners.

       Easter Events: All the boys and girls in Junior, Senior Infants and First Classes are drawing a picture with an Easter theme. The theme for 2nd. to 6th. Classes is The Mad Hatter! Pupils are making  their own head-gear using recycled materials. Prizes will be awarded in all classes. Go éirí libh.                

Book Fair:  It is hoped that the Book Fair will be held at the end of May.
