Our Sixth Classes made their Confirmation on Saturday March 21st.
Seachtain na Gaeilge 2016
Bhí seachtain na Gaeilge an specialta againn i mí na Marta an bhliain seo.
Sixth Class put on a fashion show. There were some great outfits.
We celebrated Seachtain na Gaeilge with a concert and a céilí. There was great music, colour, poetry and dancing.
Dubray Book Shop invited all classes to visit them during the week. Classes were read excerpts from their books, by different authors. Everybody had a token worth €1.50 or got a free book. Credit Union Quiz took place on Feb 2nd. We entered two teams, junior team 4th /5th class and senior team 6th class. Both teams did very well.
Spikeball competition took place on Feb 5th. Four teams entered. They all played well. The Green Team got into the semi final, but unfortunately lost by one point.
Dogs’ Trust: we had a visit again this year. Fiona brought her dog Meg to all the classes and gave very good advice on caring for our pet dogs.
Mid -Term: we hope everybody enjoyed the break and are now preparing for our next major event, Seachtain na Gaeilge. Beidh an craic again!
This year’s cake sale again was a great success. Thanks to all our parents and pupils. €829 was raised.
On June 24th. fifth and sixth classes held a very successful cake sale. There were some delicious goodies for sale.
The cake and comic sale was a great success again this year. €1060 was raised. Thanks to 5th & 6th class pupils & teachers. Thanks to all parents and pupils for their contributions.
On June 21st, fifth and sixth classes organised a very successful cake and comic sale. There was a wonderful selection of cakes, buns, comics and books. Thanks very much for all the baking and other contributions. Thanks to all your generosity, over €1300 was raised. It was an enjoyable experience for all involved.

Visit of The Rose of Tralee :On January 14th Maria Walsh, the current Rose visited us with a group of former Kilkenny Roses. She spoke to us about her work with the Hope Foundation in S Africa and her upcoming visit to Tanzania. She is also a campaigner for Road Safety and she spoke about that. She answered lots of questions and was great fun. We were very privileged, as we were the only school in Kilkenny that she visited. We were delighted to see her and we wish her all the best in the future.
Green School : Bernadette Maloney came to inspect the green School Committee on Wed 21st January. She was very impressed! We will fill in our application form for our next Green Flag shortly. Hopefully we will have our 3rd Green Flag -Water Conservation by the end of the school year!
Parent Council: next meeting will take place in the Library at 7.30 pm. on Tuesday 3rd February. The A.G.M. will then take place at 8.00 pm. New members are very welcome. It is a great opportunity to find out more about what goes on in the school, and to get involved.
Catholic Schools Week: we celebrated with a prayer service on Tuesday Jan 27th. The themes were Love, Kindness, Joy, Truth and Justice. We hope to keep these themes in mind during the year.
Accelerated Reading: girls in Rooms 10 and 11 will soon start this programme, which will greatly benefit their reading and comprehension ability. A big thank you to Paul Fiels, director of Kilkenny Education Centre for loaning us Surface Tablets. We would not be able to start this excellent programme without them. Go Raibh mile maith agat.
