On Friday we celebrated France’s retirement with her. She is loved by children, staff, parents and anyone who met her, for her kindness, efficiency and good humour. Everyone wore bright colours to celebrate. Ms Kealy coordinated a video with messages from all the staff and classes. Ms Dwyer wrote a song to the tune of Abba’s Dancing Queen, which everybody sang in the yard in her honour. We would like to thank everybody who made it such a special day. We wish her many happy years of health, happiness and fun with her family. We would like to extend a very warm welcome to Ms Theresa Kelly, our new secretary, to the school. We hope she will be very happy here in the Pres.

Junior Infants Class of 2021/22

Music generation is Ireland’s national music education programme, whose aim is to provide high quality music education to children and young people.
We had a visit recently from music generation’s very talented instructors. They gave lessons in drumming to our younger classes and dance lessons to everybody from 2nd to 6th classes. It was all great fun and all the boys and girls learned a lot.

Sports and Tours
This year we had sports and tours with a difference. Classes stayed local and enjoyed all the wonderful things that Kilkenny has to offer within walking distance of our school. Every class is did their own sporting activities and had lots of fun being out and about.

All classes went out and enjoyed their sports at different days and times in the last two weeks in June. The green area was very busy!
Zany Hair and Mad Socks Day !
On Friday June 25th all adults and children had amazing hair styles and socks ! It was great fun. Everybody brought in €2 which was spent on yummy treats like pizza and ice cream.

Zoom Graduation and Prayer Service
This year we said farewell to our 6th class by zoom. We had a lovely ceremony. We wish our 6th class pupils all the best in the future.

Every Child a Reader Competition
We were so lucky that our school was chosen to receive a library of books from Children’s Books Ireland Míle Buiochas Ms Ciara Moran for all your work on this fantastic project. Click on the link below for more information.
There have been lots of events and activities going on this month. We had a great fund raising and fun event on Christmas Jumper Day on December 11th. €800 was raised for Down Syndrome Ireland, Kilkenny Branch. A big thank you to everybody for their generosity. Thank you also for all your donations for the Christmas hampers. It was a great success.
Sporting Activities: we have had cycling lessons for 5th and 6th classes and Gaelic Football for 3rd class. The Health Promoting Committee organised laps on the basketball court with an aim of 100 km before Christmas! A lot of classes made posters in support of the Kilkenny Camogie team. Congratulations to them on their fantastic All Ireland win!
Congratulations to Ms Laura Mc Carthy on the birth of her lovely daughter last November. We send her and her family all our best wishes.
Congratulations also to Ms Mairéad Cummins on her new role as principal of Churchtown Primary School in Kildare. We wish her all the best in the future.

First Holy Communion-third class girls and their teachers were very busy preparing for their First Holy Communion. Everybody had a lovely day with their families on Saturday 19th. It was a long wait! Thanks to Ms Kelly and Ms Murphy for all their work in preparing the girls for the sacrament.

All around the school from Junior Infants to Sixth classes, there is wonderful art work on display. We had a competition to celebrate the life of Nano Nagle through art and we got some great entries. We had poems for Nano and a letter to her too. Congratulations to the winners , in every class, choosing the winner was a difficult task, as the standard was very high. We celebrated the life and work of Nano Nagle, the founder of the Presentation order on the week beginning November 16th. Everyone listened to her amazing story on the intercom and all classes took part in the art competition. We had a Zoom Prayer Service on Friday Morning and Ms Deasy announced the names of all the winners of the competition . Well Done everybody! Presentation day November 21st was celebrated with a half day on Friday November 20th.
Sixth classes have completed their course with Cycle Right training. Fifth class have now just started their 6-week cycling course. They will spend five weeks on the yard learning all about safe cycling. Their last lesson is then on the road, putting into practice all they have learned. We wish them the best of luck and safe cycling in the future.
All the girls are enjoying these lessons and will have made great progress by the end of their six weeks training. it is a great way to exercise in a safe way.
June has been an incredibly busy month in the Pres. We have had school tours, 3 Sports Days, Junior Infant Fun Day, Sixth Class Show, Bake sale , official opening of the Junior Yard, to mention a few of our events.
Senior Infants Sports Day
Senior Infants had their novelty sports day on June 25th. They had great fun.
Thanks to our teachers for the fun sports days and thanks to the Mams and Dads who came to enjoy the fun in the sun.
Junior Infant Fun Day
Junior Infant Fun Day took place on June 26th. The sun shone and everybody had a great time. There was a huge variety of activities to enjoy. All the Junior infants took part in parachute games, Gaelic football skills, novelty races and target practice. There were sand stations and water and bubble stations, They also enjoyed face painting and a Disco! Thank you so much to the Junior Infant teachers and to the other teachers involved. A big thank you also to Sixth Class, who were fantastic helpers in all the activities.
Sixth Class Play: Jo White and The Seven
Sixth class put on a great play for the school and their parents on June 18th and 20th. Everybody enjoyed it, and there was lots of humour and talent on display.
Junior fun Sports Day
First classes from Rooms 4, 5, 6 and 17 had their fun sports day on Friday 21st. They looked great in their team colours and matching face paints. There was a variety of novelty races and they had great fun.
Thanks to the First Class teachers, face painters and parents who came to support this fun event and support our raffle.
Sports Day 2019
Our annual Sports Day took place on June 19th. It was a brilliant success. The sun shone and everybody had great fun.
A big thank you to Ms Bolger and Ms Cummins for all their hard work and organisation. Thanks to all the teachers involved, and to the parents who came to cheer their children on, and support our raffle. The winners were Keeley in Room 13 and Leanne in Room 10, congratulations girls. Annual Cake Sale
Our annual cake sale took place on June 7th . It was a brilliant success. A big thank you to Ms Bolger, fifth and sixth class teachers, fifth and sixth class pupils, all the teachers who helped, parents who baked wonderful treats, and thanks to the boys and girls who bought the treats ! Thanks also for supporting the school raffle for Zambia. The raffle money is going to provide school supplies for children in Zambia. Ms Murphy is going there in the Summer to work with children there.
The Official Opening of our Junior Yard with Special Guest : Brian Cody
June was a really busy month for all of us at school. We had school tours, trips to the Castle Park, Junior Sports Day, Bake Sale and of course the Sixth Class play. We would like to thank Ms Deasy, the staff, all the boys and girls in our school for a great year. We wish those of you going to the CBS, to Second level and other schools all the best in the future. We would like to thank our wonderful Parent Council for all their hard work and support throughout the year. Who wants to be a Thousandaire, was a brilliant success, the cheque for a whopping €25,000 was given to Ms Deasy on June 28th. We will see the fruits of your labour, when we return to a resurfaced Junior yard next year. Have a wonderful Summer, hope the sun continues to shine. See you on August 30th. Slán agus beannacht.
Sixth Class Play -Once Upon a Fairy Tale
The sixth classes from Rooms 15 and 16 put on a very entertaining play for the school and their parents. A big thank you to Mrs Mc Dermot, Ms Carrigan, Ms Collins and our actors from sixth class. It was a great show.
The annual bake sale took place on Friday June 15th. It was a brilliant success. There were lots of delicious goodies on sale. A big thank you to Ms Bolger, fifth class, and all the teachers and girls who helped out. We could not have a Bake Sale without bakers and customers! A big thank you also to all the parents and junior bakers for providing the wonderful variety of cakes and buns, and the money for the boys and girls to buy them. It is much appreciated.
Junior Sports Day
Junior Sports Day was held on June 15th. It was great fun. We had a variety of novelty races. Everybody dressed in their team colours with matching face paint. Families came to cheer the teams on.
After all the excitement of the Bake Sale and Junior Sports Day everybody had a picnic on the yard.
Friday fifteenth was a great day at school. We all enjoyed it. Míle buiochas do gach duine.
Our annual Sports Day was held on Friday May 25th. It was a beautiful day and a huge success.
A big thank you to the Parents Council, Ms Bolger, Ms Cummins, 5th class, and to all the teachers and parents involved in Sports Day. A lot of work went into the preparation, time table, setting up and tidying up. It was brilliant. The sun shone, everybody had great fun and the ice-cream was yummy.
First Holy Communion May 20th 2018
Second class girls from Rooms 13 and 9 made their first Holy Communion with CBS boys, and Mother of Fair Love boys and girls on Sunday May 20th. Mr Brennan’s CBS Choir sang with our 5th and 6th class girls. It was a beautiful ceremony. The girls looked gorgeous in their beautiful dresses. We hope everybody had a great day with their families. A big thank you to their teachers, Mrs Millea and Ms Cuddihy for all their work preparing the girls for the event. Thanks to Ms Fitzpatrick and Mr Brennan for their work with the choir. It was a wonderful occasion.
Autumn Art: there is some wonderful art to be seen all around the school this Autumn.
Halloween Fun Fundraisor: Scary Siúlóid Scoile
This year fifth and sixth classes are organising a great school fundraiser. We would like everybody to dress up in a Halloween costume without a mask. We hope to raise much needed school funds by charging €2 per person to go on the walk. The scary siúlóid will take place between 11.15 and 12.15 on Friday October 27th, weather permitting.
Junior Infants:our new Junior Infants are well settled in school now, and they are working and playing happily.
Retirements: we would like to wish Ms Riordan and Mrs Moran all the best in their retirement. Míle buiochas to both of you for all your hard work and dedication during your time here in The Pres. Sixth Class Play : June 22nd
Sixth class put on a brilliant play this year. They entertained the school first and then their families.
The play told the story of Jackie and The Beanstalk, with lots of interesting characters included in the story. There was lots of singing, dancing and some great lines! There is a lot of talent in sixth class! The audience loved it and really got into the spirit of the play. The costumes and set were great. Thanks to Mrs Mc Dermot, sixth class teachers, sound engineers, Grainne and Ciara, and to the girls who put on a brilliant show. Everybody loved it!
There were lots of sporting activities on June 21st. It was a beautiful sunny day.
Junior Fun Sports
Senior Infants and First classes were dressed in their team colours, and enjoyed lots of novelty races.
Everybody had a great day, a big thank you to our teachers, and to our Mammies and Daddies who came to cheer us on.
While the Juniors were busy with their sports, Fifth and Sixth Classes were having a Rugby Blitz. The teams in the Blitz were Bangladesh, Croatia, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and South Africa.
The final took place between Ireland and Poland. There was lots of cheering for both sides, but after a great display of skills, Ireland were the winners. Míle buiochas to Ms Bolger, our coach Noel Devin and his assistants, and to fifth and sixth class players, who entertained us all.
Going on Tour
It’s the school tours season now. Some boys and girls have already been on their tours, and others are looking forward to theirs. But for our Junior Infants, June 14th 2017 was their First School Tour, a Teddy Bear’s Picnic in a “surprise” location!
Everybody had a great day, and came back tired and happy. Teddies enjoyed it too! Thanks teachers for bringing us.
Cake Sale 2017
Our annual cake sale took place on Friday June 9th. There were some delicious cakes, buns, pastries, brownies, cup cakes and biscuits for sale. There were some great bargains to be had on the books and novelties stalls. There were competitions guessing the sweets in the jar, raffles and special offers.
Junior Infant Fun Day
Junior Infant Fun Day took place on June 2nd. It was brilliant, everybody had a great time. There were lots of fun activities in different stations going on around the school indoors and outdoors.
Our Fun Day was great. The sun shone and all our Junior Infants enjoyed it. A big Thank You to their teachers, to all the other teachers involved, to their parents,to members of the Parents’ Council, who provided tea and coffee and to sixth class girls. Bhí an lá ag gach duine.
