Retirements

Last June we said goodbye to Mrs Ann Roberts. On September 17th. Miss Catherine Kinsella retired. We will miss both of them. We wish Miss Kinsella, Mrs. Roberts,  and all the other teachers who retired in the last while all the best in the future.

Weddings

Congratulations and best wishes to Ms. Elaine Carrigan and Ms. Máire O’ Donoghue, who both got married recently. May you have many years of happiness.

Confirmation and First Communion

Confirmation will take place on Sunday March 20th. 2011. First Communion will take place on Sunday 15th. May.

Parent Teacher Meetings

P. T. Meetings will take place on Nov. 24th. and 25th. Classes finish at 1.40 on these days.

                                      Shared Reading

Senior Infants are starting an 8 week block of shared reading next week Nov.15th. The Oxford Reading Tree series is being used. We hope it will be an enjoyable and worthwhile experience for everybody.

                                              Visitors

On November 15th, Mayor Martin Brett visited us. He was accompanied by Bernadette Maloney, Kilkenny’s Environmental officer. The pupils from the Green School Committee joined them on stage. Ms. Riordan hosted the event. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle was re-enforced.

                                       Prayer Service

We celebrated Presentation Day on Sun. Nov. 20th. with a prayer service on Mon. Nov. 21st.

Prayer & Carol Services

Each term we hold a prayer and carol service. At the end of the year we have a school Mass. These events are organised by Mrs. Kelly, Mrs. Smyth  and Mrs. Fitzpatrick.

Summer Events.

 “Good as new” Uniform Sale

 On Monday night, our Parents Council held a uniform sale in the hall. It was very successful and €345 was raised. Thanks to everybody who donated uniforms, track suits and jackets.  Thanks to the Parents Council who organised it and thanks also to the shoppers!

Farewell to our 6th class girls, First Class Boys and some of our Language Unit  Pupils

At our end of year Mass, and at our Certificate Presentation Ceremony, we said goodbye to the pupils that are leaving us. We wish them all the best in the future. Thank you Fr Mark, Mrs. Kelly,Mrs. Smyth and Mrs. Fitzpatrick for the lovely ceremonies.

Summer Concerts

 On June 22nd. we were treated to two concerts in the hall in the afternoon.

Margaret Murran conducted 4th. 5th. and 6th classes, who sang a variety of songs beautifully, as always, for their parents and teachers. The 6th class rendition of Alleluia was amazing! Thank you Margaret and girls.

Nicola Young, from Kilkenny School of Music gave  guitar classes to 5th. class and recorder classes  to 3rd. and 4th. class pupils  this term. Her students  put on a very varied and enjoyable recital for their parents and teachers, who were delighted with their progress after 8 weeks lessons! Thanks to Nicola and girls.

Swimming

Swimming takes place for 1st. to 6th Classes for a period of 8 weeks. Lessons take place in the Watershed. Pupils travel to and from the pool by bus.
