June /July 2012

June was very busy month for everybody at school.

Congratulations to Ms Maria Kealy and her family on the birth of baby Conor on July 5th. We wish you all the best.

Sports Days :  Senior : Friday June 1st was a great day. Second to sixth classes took part in a variety of races. Congratulations to all the winners and well done to all who took part. It was great to see so many parents cheering on their boys and girls. A big thank you to the Parents’ Council for all their work and for the treats for everybody.

Junior Sports: Senior Infants and First Classes had their Sports Day on June 19th. It was great fun! There was a brilliant display of colour, as red, green, orange and yellow teams took part in fun activities with matching face paint. We were delighted to see all the parents enjoying the sunshine and the sporting events. Thanks again to the Parents’ Council for the treats which were given out later.

Basketball Blitz: Lots of games took  place between 5th and 6th class teams, during the month.  The final took place on Monday 25th. The whole school came out to cheer on the teams in a very exciting game. Congratulations to the winners and runners up, and thanks to Joe and their teachers for all their work.

Concert: Fifth and Sixth classes put on a great nights entertainment on June 12th for their families. The junior and senior guitar players, taught by Conor Halpin, played and sang. They were a joy to hear, thank you Conor for bringing them to this level in a short time. Fifth class, conducted by Margaret sang beautifully. Sixth class performed Roald Dahl’s Little Red Riding Hood, which was brilliant, and the grand finale was a dance sequence to Michael Jackson’ s Thriller. It was indeed a thrilling night! Fourth Class Concert: Fourth class girls, conducted by Ms. Laura Mc Carthy,  put on a great concert for their parents on Tuesday June 19th. It was very enjoyable.

New Junior Infants: It was great to see next years Junior Infants, and their parents on June 13th. We wish you a very warm welcome. See you on September 3rd.

Cake Sale: There were some delicious goodies for sale on Friday June 15th. Thanks for all the baking and purchasing. Over 800 euro was raised, go raibh maith agaibh go léir.

Uniform Sale: Wednesday 27th 7-8pm in the hall.

Fond farewells: We wish Ms Patricia O’ Connor all the best in the future, and we would like to thank her for teaching French in the school for the last 12 years. We would also like to wish our 6th class girls, and first class boys the best of luck in their new schools. Go néirí libh.
