P. O. D. Pupil Online Database : all families have received this very important document. This database will be used by the department of Education and skills to determine future grants, and teacher allocation in the school, so it is vital that the forms are filled in accurately and returned promptly. We appreciate your cooperation in assisting us in this matter. Further information can be got from the D.E.S. website www.education.ie. Thank you.
Visit of The Rose of Tralee :On January 14th Maria Walsh, the current Rose visited us with a group of former Kilkenny Roses. She spoke to us about her work with the Hope Foundation in S Africa and her upcoming visit to Tanzania. She is also a campaigner for Road Safety and she spoke about that. She answered lots of questions and was great fun. We were very privileged, as we were the only school in Kilkenny that she visited. We were delighted to see her and we wish her all the best in the future.
Green School : Bernadette Maloney came to inspect the green School Committee on Wed 21st January. She was very impressed! We will fill in our application form for our next Green Flag shortly. Hopefully we will have our 3rd Green Flag -Water Conservation by the end of the school year!
Parent Council: next meeting will take place in the Library at 7.30 pm. on Tuesday 3rd February. The A.G.M. will then take place at 8.00 pm. New members are very welcome. It is a great opportunity to find out more about what goes on in the school, and to get involved.
Catholic Schools Week: we celebrated with a prayer service on Tuesday Jan 27th. The themes were Love, Kindness, Joy, Truth and Justice. We hope to keep these themes in mind during the year.
Accelerated Reading: girls in Rooms 10 and 11 will soon start this programme, which will greatly benefit their reading and comprehension ability. A big thank you to Paul Fiels, director of Kilkenny Education Centre for loaning us Surface Tablets. We would not be able to start this excellent programme without them. Go Raibh mile maith agat.
