December 2011

Christmas Concerts: Our concerts were a great success this year. We had performances by junior infants, senior infants and first classes. They were all wonderful, we are very proud of them!

Santa’s Visit: What a wonderful surprise we all had on Monday when Santa came to visit us. Lots of people checked his beard to see if it was real, and guess what it was!

Pictures of the concerts and Santa’s visit are on the Christmas page.

Spikeball: 4th and 6th classes had a great time at the spikeball blitz. Thanks to everybody involved.

Drugs Awareness Programme: Our sixth class pupils are very fortunate to  have participated in the Drugs Awareness Programme, which is sponsored by the Knights of Columbanus. It is run in association with the H.S.E. and the Aislinn Centre. The girls are educated and equipped with knowledge that will enable them to make the right decisions in the future. Congratulations to the girls who won prizes in the poster competition. The posters are on display outside their classroom.  A big thank you to The Knights of Columbanus for their generosity.

Junior Achievement: This programme is going well. Everybody is enjoying it.  Thanks to Noelle Walsh and Irene Young for the work that they do.

Green School: We have a new committee. We are looking forward to getting our next green flag, which will be for saving energy.

Congratulations: Three of our teachers have had babies recently. We would like to send our very best wishes to Ms Cummins, Ms Murphy and Ms Dwyer and their families on the births of their beautiful babies, Ciarán, Úna and Charlie.

Art,  Drama, Dancing and Music : Our senior girls are progressing very well in the choir, and in recorder and guitar lessons. They love their weekly drama classes with Kate. There is a wonderful display of art to be seen  around the school, all through the year. There is some beautiful seasonal work on display these days.  Caroline Sloan is teaching art to a group after school. Evelyn’s very enjoyable dancing classes are on every Wednesday.

Seasons Greetings: We at Scoil Mhuire would like to wish all our pupils and their families a very happy , peaceful and enjoyable Christmas and every good wish for 2012. Fáilte romhaibh go léir ar ais ar scoil san Ath Bhliain.
