We are very fortunate to have Philip Campion coaching our boys and girls from 1st to 5th classes this term in GAA skills. Philip is working in conjunction with the Dicksboro Club and the Kilkenny County Board as our local Games Promotion Officer. We are delighted to have him on board and all the classes look forward to his coaching sessions on Tuesdays.

First Holy Communion
Congratulations to our Second Class girls who received their First Holy Communion on Saturday May 7th . It was a lovely ceremony. A big thank you to their teachers, Fr Scriven, Sr Maria and the the Browne family for the beautiful music. We hope you all had a great day celebrating with your families.

Irish Dancing
We are delighted that Irish Dancing classes are back again, They are on in the hall every Thursday from 1.30 to 3.30.

Camogie
Our Camogie Team are all set to play a match! They played against against Johnswell/John’s Senior on Thursday May 5th.
We had a lovely Prayer Service in the hall, which everybody watched in their classrooms via Zoom. Mrs O’ Shea’s 3rd and 4th classes did a great job saying the prayers and telling the Easter story.
Raffle Prize Winners
The draw for the Easter hampers took place after the Prayer Service and we had a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny himself to present the prizes! Congratulations to Keelan in Room 1, Sophie in Room 17 and Mia in Room 16! We hope you enjoy your hampers.
Congratulations! We are delighted to tell you that €1,200 was collected. Thank you so much everybody for your support. This money will go to the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
Visit of the Easter Bunny
The Easter Bunny visited all the classrooms and everybody got a treat from our very generous Parents’ Council. There was much excitement, dancing and fun!

There was lots of great Easter art to be seen all around the school. We hope everybody enjoys their holidays and we will see you all back at school on Monday April 25th.
Save The Bees Campaign
We here in the Pres are looking for your help in saving our bees. One third of all the food we eat is pollinated by bees and thirty percent of Irish bees are in danger of becoming extinct. We are gathering collection cards from Supervalu. We are not asking you to change your shopping habits. Due to all your support, we now have 600 cards and we are hoping to gather another 300 by May 12th so that we are in with a chance of winning a share of €50,000. If you shop in Supervalu, or know anyone who shops there, we would be grateful for your help. Thank you to everybody who brought in cards and to Ms Moran for all her work on the project. Easter Raffle
These are the yummy Easter egg hampers that were in our Easter egg draw, which took place on Friday April 8th . Many thanks to Ms Millea and Ms O’ Shea for all their work on the raffle. There were also Easter eggs to be won in each class. Tickets were €1 each or 6 for €5 . All proceeds go to the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. Thank you all for your generosity.
Every Child A Reader Project
We got some wonderful books from the Every Child A Reader Project. They have been delivered to our senior classes as part of their library/accelerated reading programme.

Spike Ball Blitz
On March 31st the girls from 5th and 6th participated in a Spikeball Blitz in The Watershed. The other teams taking part were from John of God, the Gaelscoil, CBS, and Del la Salle schools. Our girls had a great day and really enjoyed taking part in the blitz.
Confirmation Class
Congratulations to our sixth class girls, who celebrated the sacrament of Confirmation on April 2nd. It was a lovely ceremony. We hope you and your families had an enjoyable day celebrating the event. Thank you to Ms Collins and Ms Carrigan for all their work preparing for the sacrament.
March was a very busy month here in the Pres. We celebrated World Book Day and Seachtain na Gaeilge. Our camogie team have been busy training and playing matches. We now have a Creative Schools Committee and classes have been visiting the Castle Park to learn more about trees during National Tree Week. Sixth classes have been preparing for their Confirmation ceremony and as always there are lots of projects and art work to be seen around the school.
Welcome back everybody . We hope you all had a very enjoyable mid term break. Thank you so much for your generosity on no uniform day €520 was raised for Special Olympics Ireland! All your donations are much appreciated.
Ukraine Fund : thank you SO much everybody again, for your very generous donations in support of the people of Ukraine. The total of €1,200 has been forwarded to Mary Pierce of Helping the Homeless Kilkenny who organised a shipment of much needed first aid supplies to Ukraine If you would like to donate toiletries, Infant supplies, camping equipment, tinned /dry food and warm new/like new clothes , Kilkenny Presbyterian Church (R95X588) is a drop off point on Saturdays 2-6 pm.
World Book Day March 3rd
We celebrated World Book day on Thursday March 3rd. Lots of our boys and girls brought in their favourite books and dressed as characters from those books. Some classes went to visit The Book Centre and got to meet a local author, a past pupil of the Pres, Helena Duggan.

Girls in Room 17 listened intently to Helena as she read from her book A Place Called Perfect. They got to ask her some questions about her life as a writer. It was a very enjoyable experience. Thank you to Helena and to the Book Centre. Of Course we know every day should be a day when we all enjoy reading!
Seachtain na Gaeilge
We have been celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge with lots of different fun activities. Bhí na cailíní agus na buachaillí ag foghlaim agus ag caint Gaeilge ar fud na scoile. Classes have being enjoying learning Irish poems, songs, dances, tunes, seanfhocail and taking part in quizzes. Congratulations to these boys and girls on becoming Gaeilgeoirí na Scoile 2022. Well Done!

Creative Schools Committee
Here we see the members of our Creative Schools Committee with Mary Bourke, the coordinator, discussing their creative ideas for the future. Thank you to Mrs Millea , Mrs O’ Shea, Mary and the committee for all their work. This project is run by the Art’s Council who provide funding of €4000! We are very fortunate that our school was chosen to participate in this project. We are looking forward to seeing their ideas being put in place.

Friendship fortnight is from Monday February 7th to Friday February 18th. By taking part in Special Olympics Ireland’s Friendship February Mission, we all promise to do two acts of kindness and friendship each day in school or at home. There are reminders and examples of acts of kindness every day. We have lots of lovely ideas and games for everybody to take part in and enjoy. On Friday the 18th please show an act of kindness by donating €2 to the athletes of Special Olympics Ireland. All donations will go towards supporting children and adults in Ireland who are enjoying the benefits of being part of a Special Olympics club. It is also a no uniform day! Junior Infants have been out every morning with their teachers and SNA’s doing their steps.

Tag Rugby: third and fourth classes from Rooms 14, 18 and 21 are learning to play tag rugby and being coached by Noel Devlin. They are really enjoying it.

We had a fantastic response to the Team Hope Christmas Box Appeal. Thanks to Ms Collins and all her 6th class for promoting it. The vulnerable children overseas, who will receive these boxes will be thrilled with the lovely surprises they will get in the boxes.
Every Child A Reader
As a result of taking part in the Every Child a Reader competition last year, we have received 250 beautiful books, some of which are on display in the front hall . Thank you Ms Ciara Moran for all your work on this. Everybody is enjoying reading them. Children’s Books Ireland is a charity that champions every child’s right to develop a love of reading. Their aim is to engage young people with books, and to foster an understanding of the importance of books. Their mission is to inspire a love of reading in young people and for them to share their enthusiasm with the adults in their lives.

Nano Nagle: we remembered all the good work in education done by Nano Nagle and the founding of the Presentation Order, with a zoom prayer service on November 19th. Thank you to the Board of Management for sanctioning a half day to celebrate Presentation Day !
October was a very busy month in the Pres. We said farewell to Frances. We checked to see how our Junior Infants were getting on and of course we had Halloween art and dressing up day.

On Friday we celebrated France’s retirement with her. She is loved by children, staff, parents and anyone who met her, for her kindness, efficiency and good humour. Everyone wore bright colours to celebrate. Ms Kealy coordinated a video with messages from all the staff and classes. Ms Dwyer wrote a song to the tune of Abba’s Dancing Queen, which everybody sang in the yard in her honour. We would like to thank everybody who made it such a special day. We wish her many happy years of health, happiness and fun with her family. We would like to extend a very warm welcome to Ms Theresa Kelly, our new secretary, to the school. We hope she will be very happy here in the Pres.

We had a great day at school on Friday October 22nd. All the staff and boys and girls dressed up. There were some amazing outfits to be seen all around the school.

Confirmation Class 2021
Our 6th class of 2021 took part in the Ceremony of Light on Monday 6th and received the sacrament of Confirmation on Thursday 9th in Nowlan Park. It was a lovely ceremony. We hope everybody had a lovely evening with their families. We wish you all the best in the future.
First Holy Communion Classes 2021
First Holy Communion took place in the Cathedral on Saturday September 18th. The Masses and ceremonies were wonderful occasions. The children looked gorgeous in their finery! The very talented Browne family provided stunning music and singing. We would like to say big thank you to the teachers, the Browne family, the children and their families, Fr Scriven and Sr Maria for making it such a wonderful occasion. We hope you all had a lovely weekend with your families.

Music generation is Ireland’s national music education programme, whose aim is to provide high quality music education to children and young people.
We had a visit recently from music generation’s very talented instructors. They gave lessons in drumming to our younger classes and dance lessons to everybody from 2nd to 6th classes. It was all great fun and all the boys and girls learned a lot.

Sports and Tours
This year we had sports and tours with a difference. Classes stayed local and enjoyed all the wonderful things that Kilkenny has to offer within walking distance of our school. Every class is did their own sporting activities and had lots of fun being out and about.
